Introduction to Quality

This course introduces participants to the fundamental concepts and methods necessary to implement a quality improvement program. Participants learn the philosophy of process understanding and control to prevent problems rather than product control (inspection), which is reactive in nature. The importance of minimizing variation is stressed. Basic quality tools and graphical methods are presented. Also, an introduction to statistics and distributions for describing data is covered. Finally, many applications of statistical methods for quality and reliability improvement are introduced.
